ABOUT ANIMAL JUSTICE PROJECT
Animal Justice Project is a UK-based non-profit organisation working to end animal agriculture. Since 2014, we've been confronting systemic animal exploitation through undercover investigations, public education, and impactful campaigns that refuse to look away from the truth.
We exist to dismantle an industry that commodifies and kills individuals who want to live. From documenting abuse inside UK farms to empowering activists nationwide, our work is focused, fearless, and uncompromising in its vision: a world free from animal exploitation.
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We’re seeking a mission-aligned digital storyteller who understands that social media is a frontline tool in the fight for justice. Someone who knows that 'good engagement' means more than reach—it means changing minds, provoking thought, and shifting behaviour.
You're bold, strategic, and immersed in online culture. You're not afraid to experiment, learn quickly, and move fast. You study what stops the scroll and how to harness hooks. Most importantly, you're driven by a belief that animals are not ours to use — and you're ready to build content that makes that message impossible to ignore.
This role is about building power: not only by growing AJP’s platforms, but by supporting the wider movement through smart, intentional, and effective storytelling. If you're ready to make an impact with every post, we want to hear from you.
THE ROLE
As Social Media Lead, you’ll play a key role in shaping our digital presence. From daily content creation to long-term strategy, you’ll ensure our voice reaches beyond our allies, builds momentum, and keeps the ethics of animal use in the spotlight.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Social Media & Community Management
• Develop and manage a consistent social media calendar across platforms using project management tools like Monday.com or Asana and scheduling software such as Hootsuite
• Write impactful captions and copy aligned with AJP’s tone and narrative
• Monitor and respond meaningfully to comments, DMs, reposts and collaboration requests
• Track growth and performance via monthly reports and analysis
• Stay ahead of algorithm changes and implement best practices to maximise reach
• Play an active role in campaign planning — shaping strategy to resonate powerfully online
Content Creation
• Create and edit exceptional short-form videos quickly and effectively (CapCut, Premiere Pro, etc) optimised for Tiktok, Instagram and Youtube Shorts
• Confidently appear on camera and representing Animal Justice Project in video content
• Attend actions, events and investigations to capture high-impact content in real time
What You Bring
• A deep commitment to animal justice, adherence to a vegan lifestyle and a strong understanding of the systems and industries we fight to expose.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong working knowledge of social media platforms, tools, and trends. You should understand the unique cultures of each platform and what compelling content looks like on Instagram, Tiktok, X & Youtube
• Confidence in video editing and visual storytelling for digital audiences
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
• Comfortable travelling for content gathering and events when needed
• Experience working with AI tools including Gemini & OpenAi with a willingness to regularly upskill in this domain.
• Deep knowledge and/or direct experience operating within the UK animal rights movement is a major advantage.
