In February 2024, Animal Justice Project commissioned a YouGov poll to find out what the British public really knows about the egg industry. Unsurprisingly we found that most egg consumers were 'in the dark' about the Rotten reality of what happens to hens on egg farms and were being misled by 'happy hen' free-range marketing. In our investigation into free-range farms we found terrible conditions at Sherriff’s Wood Eggs, in Wales, is the family farm of BFREPA Director, Pauline Jones. They supply eggs directly to Stonegate, a major supplier of own-label eggs to the likes of Waitrose, Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Ocado.
