Yesterday, at Norwich Magistrates’ Court, Steven Woolger has pleaded GUILTY to all eight charges brought under the Animal Welfare Act 2006!
After 18 months of perseverance, this is a huge moment. When we released our undercover footage inside the Norfolk boar semen farm in December 2024, we wanted justice, and today, we got it. It has been featured in the Daily Mail, reaching thousands of people. The charges included striking animals with a pitchfork, kicking them and forcefully hitting them with a plastic pipe, causing unnecessary suffering.
Accountability through our legal system takes time, pressure and the people willing to stand beside us through every stage of that fight. That includes you.
Because of your support, what was uncovered from behind closed doors has now been acknowledged in a court of law and Steven has admitted guilt.
Although this is a big win for animals, the story is incomplete. Originally, Trading Standards were bringing charges against Innovis ltd, their CEO and the farm manager too, but these were subsequently dropped.
It’s clear that Steven should be held accountable, but so too should those who put these pigs into this horrific facility that prioritises profits over all else to begin with.
This story is not over.
Whilst sentencing is still to come in the weeks ahead, today’s outcome means that the suffering and abuse we documented could simply not be denied or ignored. For every pig who was trapped inside Innovis’ walls, that matters.
We will continue following the case closely and will update you again at sentencing. If you would like to help us continue exposing horrors, pursuing accountability and seeking justice, please consider supporting our investigations by donating today.
Thank you for every share, every donation, every message of support, and every moment you stood with us over the last year and a half. Together, we helped bring this case to court, and today, we took an important leap forward in seeking justice.
As always,
For the animals.
