Eight runners took part in the York 10K on behalf of Animal Justice Project.

On August 2nd, eight runners took part in the York 10K on behalf of Animal Justice Project. They had matching t-shirts and a flag with three words on it: Arla kills cows. Thousands of spectators and runners lined the route. None of them could miss it.

We weren't there to ruin anyone's race. We were there because Arla Protein, the event's leading sponsor, is spending its marketing budget telling runners that dairy fuels their performance, while hiding the reality of dairy.

What Arla's adverts don't show

Arla wants runners to picture strength, recovery, endurance. What their marketing never captures is the reality behind the label: mother cows separated from their calves, exploited for their milk, then killed once their bodies are considered ‘spent’. We made sure the crowd at York saw what Arla leaves out.

Our flag and t-shirts got attention on the day, and our volunteers put the reality directly into people's hands, handing out hundreds of flyers along the route. But a flag alone won't get Arla removed as a sponsor. That takes numbers, and it takes pressure on the people who can actually make the call: Run For All.

Run For All has built its reputation on health and community. Arla's business is built on exploitation and death. Those two things don't belong at the same starting line, and it's on Run For All to see that and act on it.

Where this goes next

If this wasn’t reason enough, a member of Vegan Runners UK even won the race. And in addition, we have had reports of bus stop advertisements popping up around the UK featuring our petition and putting more pressure on Run for All.

For the past eighteen months, we've been exposing what's really happening on Arla's farms, and this action is the next step, not the last one. The more people who sign, share, and speak up, the harder it becomes for Run For All to keep Arla on the start line.

Arla can spend as much as it likes on marketing. It can't outrun the facts.

As always,

For the Animals!
