What began as a Week of Action quickly grew into a month of non-stop action, and it's all thanks to your unstoppable energy, fierce dedication, and (let’s be honest) a bit of help from the weather!
Throughout June, our campaign demanding Starbucks make oat milk the default option in all UK stores has surged forward. With powerful street demonstrations in cities like Cambridge, Lincoln, Leeds, Nottingham and Glasgow alongside waves of digital activism, we’ve been impossible to ignore.
Thousands of campaign leaflets have been distributed, and countless members of the public have been educated about the Arlarming reality of dairy. From the streets to social media, we’re telling the truth, and Starbucks is feeling the pressure.
Starbucks UK continues to source milk from Arla, the UK’s largest dairy cooperative, a supplier we’ve exposed for horrific animal abuse. In March, our undercover investigation at Lowfields Farm, an Arla supplier, revealed heartbreaking scenes of suffering, including violent abuse, neglect, and newborn calves separated from their mothers. These findings were covered by over 25 major media outlets, sparking national outrage, as seen in The Mirror.
Now, because of your help, we’ve taken this truth directly to the public right outside Starbucks stores up and down the country, urging countless members of the public to change.
To support our activist teams, we released a compelling new report by Dr Helen Lambert. Drawing on a broad body of scientific research, the report exposes what life is truly like for cows and calves on dairy farms. The findings are deeply unsettling, and they challenge the widespread assumptions around dairy farming.
This report is a vital tool for activists to use when talking to the public. It clearly shows how dairy farming harms animals not just physically, but also emotionally and cognitively. Copies have even been delivered directly to Starbucks stores to provoke thought among staff and encourage internal reflection. We encourage you to read it too, and use it in your fight for animal rights. We've summarise it on our blog for you, for easy reading.
We launched three powerful online actions to build momentum, all designed to shine a spotlight on our petition demands and push Starbucks to meet with us. For those who couldn’t attend an event in person, it was the perfect way to stand in solidarity.
We were thrilled to see so many of you take part in all three, helping us maintain momentum and ensure Starbucks heard us from every angle.
We’re gearing up for one final, bold push to get Starbucks to engage, and it's going to be big. We’ll be sharing more soon. After that, the campaign will evolve, bringing even more opportunities for you to take action and create lasting change.
Thank you for standing up, speaking out, and sharing the truth. Every leaflet dropped, email sent, and action taken brings us closer to a dairy-free future.
As always,
For the animals.
