As we head to court, will we get justice for the pigs at Innovis?

Today, I am travelling to Great Yarmouth Magistrates’ Court to seek justice.

In December 2024, we released devastating undercover footage filmed inside an Innovis boar semen farm in Norfolk. It made national headlines, with pig veterinarian Alice Brough describing the footage as “truly shocking.” After 18 months of perseverance working alongside Norfolk County Council Trading Standards, Innovis, its CEO and two of its workers are appearing in court for the first time today.

Under the Animal Welfare Act 2006, 8 charges have been laid against all four defendants:

  • Innovis Ltd
  • Dewi Jones, CEO
  • Nigel Walpole, Farm Manager
  • Steven Woolger, Farm Worker

Every one of you who shared our footage and donated towards our work has made this possible. Please help us spread the word by sharing the video below on social media, or sending this blog to friends and family who care about creating a better future for everyone.

It has been a long and difficult road, but I am not giving up. You never gave up, so neither will we. Tomorrow’s pleas – whether or not they admit any fault – will determine whether this will be dragged out for many months to come, or if we might see justice in the coming weeks.

No matter how long it takes, we will keep going.

As I walk into the courtroom, I’ll be carrying the memory of every pig we documented inside that farm. Many of those animals will no longer be with us, but their lives mattered. Their experiences mattered. And we owe it to them to fight for a world where people are held accountable for their actions.

As always,

For the animals.
