Yesterday, we stormed the stage at Tesco’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) with one clear message: Drop Cranswick!

Tesco is complicit in the heartbreaking abuse we exposed at Northmoor Farm last month. Instead of cutting ties with the company behind it, Tesco only suspended the farm, and reaffirmed its partnership with Cranswick plc. Earlier this year, the supermarket relaunched its Tesco Sustainable Pig Group (TSPG) in collaboration with Cranswick, claiming the scheme would ‘incentivise animal welfare’ and ‘encourage innovation’ while, in reality, it will simply increase the companies’ profits.

‍They blame the farm. We blame the industry. This is not a ‘bad apple’. This is systemic.

Will you email Tesco directly asking them to drop Cranswick? If enough of us speak up, our demand could make a real difference. Tesco needs to hear that thousands of us expect them to take responsibility and do the right thing.

Our undercover footage revealed piglets being illegally killed by blunt force trauma — a method known as ‘thumping’ that has been banned for years. Tesco has not taken any responsibility and Cranswick has yet to explain how it will stop this from happening again.

Our escalation sends a clear message: Tesco cannot wash its hands of the suffering in its supply chain and they must end their partnership with Cranswick.
